Influential media executive recognized by State Council Information Office for 2nd time

The fifth National Conference on International Communication hosted by the State Council Information Office was held in Yantai from July 27 to 28.

Li Zhenyu, chief editor at the People's Daily Online and contributing columnist with the China Daily, received recognition from the State Council Information Office for his professional achievement and research results in media and international communication for the second time in a row. Mr. Li, who was recognized at the previous session of the conference in 2015, was invited to attend the conference for a second consecutive time.

The People's Daily Business New Media, a large-scale media project founded and led by Mr. Li, was selected as the outstanding case of the fifth National Conference on International Communication.

In the fourth National Conference on International Communication in 2015, the Elite Talk, a talk program produced and hosted by Mr. Li of the People's Daily, was voted as the "Best Work of International Communication" by the State Council Information Office. The program was also named one of China's top 10 best international communication cases of 2015 by the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration. Mr. Li was honored with the "Outstanding Paper Award" by the State Council Information Office for his research paper on international communication. The award was presented by Jiang Jianguo, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and head of the State Council Information Office.

The National Conference on International Communication, held every two years, is the most authoritative and influential conference in media and international communication in China. The conference is designed to explore innovative approaches for international communication and increase mutual understanding between China and the rest of the world.

Approximately 400 people, consisting of senior officials, prominent media professionals and scholars from central government organizations, major media groups, universities, think tanks and information offices of regional governments, attended the conference.
