BEIJING, June 21 -- Liu Yunshan, senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Wednesday called on Party members to learn from late official Liao Junbo.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks before a special meeting to remember the exemplary life of Liao, who died at the age of 48 in a traffic accident while heading to a meeting on March 18.
Liao was vice mayor of Nanping City in east China's Fujian Province and formerly served as party chief of Zhenghe County. He was honored as one of 102 model county party chiefs by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee in June 2015.
Liu expressed his condolences to Liao's family and presented them with a certificate and medal of excellence.
Liao devoted his life to the Party's cause and improving the people's well-being, said Liu, urging Party members to learn from his loyalty to the Party, earnestness with the people, and selfless devotion to work.
Liu asked the publicity and organization departments to strengthen the promotion of Liao's deeds and spirit, urging efforts to care for grassroots officials.
