
VIENTIANE, June 14 (Xinhua) -- China and Laos on Wednesday signed an agreement on implementation of aid provision by China for poverty alleviation demonstration cooperation project in Laos.
Economic Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Laos Wang Qihui and Director General of Planning and International Cooperation of the Lao National Committee for Rural Development and Poverty Eradication Chit Thavisay signed the agreement.
The project is among the specific implementation of the China-proposed cooperation initiative on poverty alleviation in East Asia.
In the next three years, China will build roads, water supply system among other infrastructure projects in two target villages of Lao capital Vientiane and Xienglom in northern Luang Prabang province.
The project will also support plantation, husbandary and other agricultural industry in the Southeast Asian nation, as well as environmental remediation.
Under the project, China will also provide materials and dispatch experts to Laos to carry out training activities for local villagers.
