China's economy stable in May, statistics bureau says

China's economy performed stably with positive momentum in May, the country's National Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday as it released several major macroeconomic indicators (MEI).

As shown on its official website, China's value-added industrial output, an important economic indicator, expanded 6.5 percent year-on-year in May, flat with April. Retail sales grew 10.7 percent year-on-year in May.

In the first five months of 2017, national fixed asset investment grew 8.6 percent year-on-year, 0.3 percentage point slower than the growth in the first four months. Private fixed asset investment increased by 6.8 percent, down 0.1 percentage point from the growth in the first four months.
