Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks at a daily press conference and expressed condolences and sincere sympathy to the victims and their families.

According to a statement from the Afghan Interior Ministry, at least 64 people were killed and 320 others injured in Wednesday morning's suicide car bomb explosion in a diplomatic district in Kabul.

China opposes all kinds of terrorism, and was ready to work with Afghanistan and the international community to fight against terrorism, said Hua.

According to Hua, the Chinese Embassy to Afghanistan was slightly damaged and no Chinese casualties had been reported at the time of writing.

China will take measures to strengthen protection of Chinese citizens and institutions in Afghanistan, she added.
