BEIJING, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" topped Chinese box office with an estimated 464 million yuan (67.8 million U.S. dollars) in the week ending May 28.
The fifth installment of the "Pirates" franchise, starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and Javier Bardem as the villainous Captain Salazar, debut in the Chinese film market on May 26, the same with North America.
The Indian drama "Dangal" landed in second place for the week, taking in 160 million yuan. The film has earned 943 million yuan since its release on May 5.
Sony's thriller "Life" took third place, earning 37 million yuan.
In fourth place was domestic war movie "God of War," generating 28 million yuan.
Rounding out the top five was Disney and Marvel's "Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2," which grossed 26 million yuan.
