(Xinhua)    20:36, April 25, 2017

LANZHOU, April 25 (Xinhua) -- A 53-year-old Chinese man has been prosecuted for charges including robbery, rape, murder and dismembering bodies, the local procuratorate in Gansu Province confirmed Tuesday.

The serial killer from Gansu, surnamed Gao, was accused of killing 10 women and an eight-year-old girl between 1988 and 2002, said the procuratorate in the city of Baiyin.

According to reports from local media, many of Gao's victims were dressed in red, and some parts of the victims' bodies were missing, which lead some media to dub him the Chinese "Jack the Ripper."

Police in Baiyin had screened men living close to the crime scenes without success. They discovered Gao after one of his relatives committed a crime and underwent DNA testing in 2015.

Gao was arrested on August 26 last year.

The procuratorate told Xinhua that Gao will be tried, but did not give a specific date.
