NASSAU, Bahamas, April 22 -- Paced by the 100-meter national record holder Su Bingtian, the Chinese men's 4X100 meters relay team took the bronze medal at the 2017 IAAF World Relays here on Saturday.
The Chinese team clocked a season best of 38.97 seconds to finish fifth in the heats and went on to clock 39.22s to finish third in the final.
The gold medal went to the U.S. team who sprinted to a winning mark of 38.43s. Barbados outraced China right in front of the finish to seize the silver in 39.18s.
According to the entry standards for 2017 IAAF World Championships in London, the top eight placed teams in the World Relays can earn automatical qualification for the London worlds, which means the Chinese men's 4X100 team has already secured a berth in the World Championships in August.
The Chinese women's 4X200m team also competed on Saturday and finished eighth in the final with a 1:37.60 clocking. Jamaica took the gold with a meet record of 1:29:04.
