(Xinhua)    10:29, April 02, 2017

A bridge shifted 1.6 meters after being hit by a cargo ship in southern China's Guangdong Province on Saturday, according to local maritime safety authorities.

"The Lianxi Bridge, built in 1992, was hit by the ship loaded with about 1,000 tonnes of goods at around 9:50 a.m. in Zhuhai city," said Wang Shiyun, deputy head of the city's maritime administration.

The vessel, which is 98.8 meters long and 15.6 meters wide, was registered in Wuhu, eastern China's Anhui Province.

No casualties have been reported, and traffic control measures have been imposed on water around the site.

An investigation is underway.
