NEW YORK, Nov. 2 -- Over half of the respondents in a recent U.S. poll said they are "alarmed" with the ongoing presidential election, with Americans deciding on Nov. 8 who to send to the White House.

The poll by Suffolk University on Oct. 26 showed that 46 percent of respondents hold a favorable attitude of Democratic nominee Hillary Clintonwith 47 percent unfavorable.

For Clinton's Republican rival Donald Trump, 61 percent have an unfavorable attitude compared with 31 percent favorable.

Forty-nine percent of respondents said they would vote for or lean toward Clinton, with thirty-nine percent for Trump and another 10 percent undecided on their vote.

Fourty-three percent of respondents, feel "scared" about the idea of Trump eventually winning the election, according to the poll.

It also found that 58 percent of the respondents think the divisions inside the U.S. are deeper than the past, and 54 percent are worried that the country is headed in the wrong direction.

Poll results from Fox, CNN and MSNBC provided people's divided viewpoints on the two presidential candidates.

In stark contrast to the Suffolk University poll, 83 percent of Fox respondents said they would vote for Trump, while 77 percent of CNN respondents and 94 percent from MSNBC chose Clinton.

The 2016 presidential election, with all its twists and turns like Clinton's trust issues and accusations on Trump's sexual misconduct, is believed to be one of the most contentious races yet to the Oval Office.
