Amputee girl stick to her dream in 12 years

Twelve years ago, Xu Caifen went to a fair with her mother when she was 6. A truck went through the road, horning, reminding the crowd to pay attention to the track. Xu's mother did not realize the truck came close because she suffered from mental retardation, nor did the truck driver see her. Being aware of the danger, Xu pushed her mother to road side but she was caught in the wheels.

That truck ran over Xu's legs, left a bloody scene and broken legs, recalled residents nearby.

"She is my mother and I will not blame or hate her," Xu said.

A year after the accident, Xu learned to walk with her hands. Years later, when she came up with the idea to return to school to continue study, her father Xu Honggui worried that her daughter could not adapt to school life and the students and teachers in school would discriminate against her.

After the teachers from a local primary school told Xu Honggui that the school will exempt her daughter from miscellaneous fees, he agreed to let her daughter attend school.

At the age of 10, Xu was eventually able to return to school. Her hands and pants were worn out. In order to alleviate her pain, Xu Honggui made a simple car with a used wheel and bought her a pair of kids' shoes to protect her hands.

As there is no middle school in Xu's village, those who want to attend middle school have to walk 8 kilometers to the school in the county. The semester of the middle school began in September 2014. Out of expectation of Xu's classmates, Xu appeared in the school after 4-hour walk by hands.

He Fen, a friend of Xu who grew up with her, took care of Xu's daily life in school.

Xujiawan, the village where Xu lives in, is located in a newly built reservoir area. Almost all young people go out to work. White-haired Xu Honggui carries cement bricks.

"How heavy the cement bricks are! Why do you still carry them?" Xu shouted when she saw her father dozens of meters away. Her father wants to carry more bricks in the day.

In Xu's words, her biggest hope is that she will be able to attend university.
