Loaded with more than 5,000 kinds of cheap books, the world's largest ocean-going ship Logos Hope arrived in Hong Kong on Monday, according to the website of China News Service.
Besides selling books, the ship raises "book coupons" for students in poor regions.
Logos Hope is operated by the Germany Christian charitable organization GBA (Good Books for All) ships. Its aims to bring knowledge, help, and hope to the young people around the world.
The GBA began to run the ships including Logos, Doulos, Logos II and now Logos Hope in 1970. Since then, the ships have visited 500 different ports in 150 countries and regions and welcomed over 44 million visitors onboard.
Logos Hope is a 9-storey white boat cruise, besides book exhibition at the first floor, it has a reading room, show room, virtual cabin, cafe, small theater-which can accommodate more than 400 people-,and a public space. In the book exhibition, wooden shelves are filled with all kinds of books, covering science, sports, recreation, and arts.
Logos Hope will stay in Hong Kong till August 9 and set out for Taiwan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Africa. It is expected to visit Hong Kong in the next eight to ten years.
