Anti-drugs Publicity and Public Drugs Destruction Campaign Meeting held in Pu'er

On July 26, 2015, the Anti-drugs Publicity and Public Drugs Destruction Campaign Meeting was held in Pu'er. Party Secretary of Pu'er Wei Xing attended the Campaign Meeting and delivered a speech.

Wei Xing, on behalf of the Pu’er Party Committee and Pu’er Government, paid high tribute to all the anti-drug workers on the front line of the long-term fight against drugs, and expressed his sincere thanks to the people of all circles who have been supporting the anti-drug efforts.

Wei Xing pointed out that Pu’er, adjacent to the overseas drug source "Golden Triangle", is one of the main passages of overseas drug crimes penetration and one key area under great influences of drugs, which have caused such problems as public security, poverty and spread of diseases, and harmed the social harmony and stability in border areas; therefore, Pu’er faces an arduous and demanding anti-drug work.

He stressed that the anti-drug campaign is a great public cause involving everyone, which will benefit both current and future generations. He also noted that the whole society, especially teenagers, shall be educated and mobilized to participate in the fight and prevention against drugs, so that a thick atmosphere of and a strong push for the national anti-drug campaign will be formed, and an impregnable “iron wall” against drugs can be built, thus making great contributions to writing a splendid Pu’er chapter on the way to realizing Chinese Dream.

At the meeting, some representatives of anti-drugs volunteers also gave speeches. Besides, the public drugs destruction campaign, anti-drug oaths and signing ceremony were also held.

Nearly ten thousand people attended the Campaign Meeting, including cadres and workers from the Narcotics Control Commission at city and district levels in Pu’er, some college and university students from Simao District as well as anti-drugs volunteers.
