Facts & Figures: China's Top 10 Trading Provinces

Following are the figures about foreign trade volumes of China's top ten trading provinces and municipalities from January to August, 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

-- Guangdong Province: total, 114.693 billion U.S. dollars, up 2.9 percent from the same period last year; exports, 60.174 billion U.S. dollars, up 0.9 percent; imports, 54.519 billion U.S. dollars, up 5.2 percent.

-- Shanghai Municipality: total, 40.566 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.5 percent; exports, 18.032 billion U.S. dollars, up 14.0 percent; imports, 22.534 billion U.S. dollars, up 18.6 percent.

-- Jiangsu Province: total, 35.261 billion U.S. dollars, up 13.2 percent; exports, 19.008 billion U.S. dollars, up 13.8 percent; imports, 16.254 billion U.S. dollars, up 12.5 percent.

-- Zhejiang Province: total, 24.081 billion U.S. dollars, up 20.2 percent; exports, 15.650 billion U.S. dollars, up 20.4 percent; imports, 8.431 billion U.S. dollars, up 19.7 percent.

-- Shandong Province: total, 21.360 billion U.S. dollars, up 19.6 percent; exports, 11.809 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.1 percent; imports, 9.551 billion U.S. dollars, up 24.2 percent.

-- Beijing Municipality: total, 18.675 billion U.S. dollars, up 21.2 percent; exports, 5.326 billion U.S. dollars, up 11.4 percent; imports, 13.349 billion U.S. dollars, up 25.6 percent.

-- Fujian Province: total, 15.688 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.8 percent; exports, 9.562 billion U.S. dollars, up 8.1 percent; imports, 6.126 billion U.S. dollars, up 4.7 percent.

-- Liaoning Province: total, 13.518 billion U.S. dollars, up 7.2 percent; exports, 6.931 billion U.S. dollars, up 4.4 percent; imports, 6.587 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.3 percent.

-- Tianjin Municipality: total, 11.949 billion U.S. dollars, up 7.6 percent; exports, 5.670 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.0 percent; imports, 6.278 billion U.S. dollars, up 5.6 percent.

-- Hebei Province: total, 3.719 billion U.S. dollars, up 4.6 percent; exports, 2.193 billion U.S. dollars, up 2.1 percent; imports, 1.526 billion U.S. dollars, up 8.3 percent.
