Following are the latest facts and figures about the Chinese mainland's main import commodities from Taiwan Province in January-August 2001, released by the General Administration of Customs:
Machinery, electronic products, audio and video equipment: 7.333 billion U.S. dollars.
Plastics and rubber products: 2.547 billion U.S. dollars.
Base metals and products: 2.383 billion U.S. dollars.
Textile raw materials and products: 2.043 billion U.S. dollars.
Chemical products: 1.236 billion U.S. dollars.
Optical, medical instruments and meters: 437.142 million U.S. dollars.
