Facts & Figures: China's Top 10 Trading Provinces

Following are figures about foreign trade volumes of China's top ten trading provinces and municipalities from January to March, 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

-- Guangdong Province: total, 39.370 billion U.S. dollars, up 6. 5 percent from the same period last year; exports, 20.397 billion U.S. dollars, up 2.1 percent; imports, 18.973 billion U.S. dollars, up 11.7 percent.

-- Shanghai Municipality: total, 13.550 billion U.S. dollars, up 21.9 percent; exports, 6.274 billion U.S. dollars, up 28.8 percent; imports, 7.277 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.6 percent.

-- Jiangsu Province: total, 12.300 billion U.S. dollars, up 28. 7 percent; exports, 6.697 billion U.S. dollars, up 33.8 percent; imports, 5.603 billion U.S. dollars, up 23.2 percent.

-- Zhejiang Province: total, 8.159 billion U.S. dollars, up 26. 8 percent; exports, 5.038 billion U.S. dollars, up 24.9 percent; imports, 3.122 billion U.S. dollars, up 29.8 percent.

-- Shandong Province: total, 6.992 billion U.S. dollars, up 31. 3 percent; exports, 3.986 billion U.S. dollars, up 25.6 percent; imports, 3.006 billion U.S. dollars, up 39.7 percent.

-- Beijing Municipality: total, 6.390 billion U.S. dollars, up 25.7 percent; exports, 1.944 billion U.S. dollars, up 27.6 percent; imports, 4.446 billion U.S. dollars, up 24.8 percent.

-- Fujian Province: total, 5.420 billion U.S. dollars, up 11.5 percent; exports, 3.289 billion U.S. dollars, up 13.3 percent; imports, 2.131 billion U.S. dollars, up 8.8 percent.

-- Liaoning Province: total, 4.611 billion U.S. dollars, up 10. 8 percent; exports, 2.441 billion U.S. dollars, up 9.8 percent; imports, 2.170 billion U.S. dollars, up 12 percent.

-- Tianjin Municipality: total, 4.588 billion U.S. dollars, up 15.9 percent; exports, 2.299 billion U.S. dollars, up 19.8 percent; imports, 2.290 billion U.S. dollars, up 12.2 percent.

-- Hebei Province: total, 1.309 billion U.S. dollars, up 12.6 percent; exports, 807.868 million U.S. dollars, up 14.2 percent; imports, 500.886 million U.S. dollars, up 10.2 percent.
