The number of Internet users in east China's Zhejiang Province had risen to more than 1 million by March, ranking fourth in the country, according to the provincial telecom department.
The province opened a trial website based on wide-band transmission, indicating that Internet users, connected to the Internet via dial-up or ISDN, are going to embrace more advanced and faster connections and transmissions by using wide-band ADSL and LAN optical fiber cables with improved effects and services.
To date, some 400,000 families in Zhejiang have been able to surf the Internet through wide-band cables, sources said.
