Shanghai Bell Wins CDMA Contract from China Unicom

The Shanghai Bell Telephone Equipment Manufacturing Co Ltd has recently won a US$157 million contract to supply equipment for China Unicom's CDMA systems in Beijing, Guangdong and 10 other regions.

Under the contract, Shanghai Bell will supply CDMA network systems to Shanghai, Tianjin, Hebei and Fujian, and switchboard systems for the CDMA networks in Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong and four other regions.

Shanghai Bell emerged the winner for its advanced technologies and package solutions from a public bidding and saw its contract values doubled in 2000, said company sources.
