More and more investors from Taiwan are operating on Hainan Island. Sources from Hainan Provincial Office of Taiwan Affairs said Taiwan investors have started up 82 businesses in Hainan since last year, most of which are small and medium-sized.
Taiwan-funded businesses in Hainan are mainly engaged in agricultural development, including processing of farm produce, and the electronic and information industries, said the sources.
According to the sources, Taiwan Province has actually become Hainan's second largest source of capital.
Hainan, also one of China's five special economic zones, where 7.43 million people live, is an island with fine tropical climatic conditions and plenty of land and other natural resources.
