Policies On Taiwan Investors Will Not Change: Official

China's mainland will continue to encourage investments from Taiwan compatriots, and the related policies protecting the investors' interests will not change, a Taiwan affairs official said on Friday.

He Shizhong, director of economic affairs of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, told a press conference that related departments will continue to promote economic cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait on the basis of the ``One China " principle and mutual benefit.

According to information released at the press conference, last year the number of Taiwan compatriots visiting China's mainland for various reasons for the first time exceeded 3 million, up 36.3 percent over the previous year.

Also last year, the indirect trade volume between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait reached 30.5 billion U.S. dollars, up 31.1 percent over the previous year's figure.

Of this, the export volume to the mainland from Taiwan was 25.4 billion U.S. dollars.
