Three container ships were put into operation for a weekly container line to southeast Asia Monday by COSCO Container Lines, one of the largest container line companies in China.
The company cooperated with a Singapore shipping company last year to open container lines from south and north China to Southeast Asia.
The ships on the new line will stop at Ningbo, Shanghai, Wenzhou, Singapore, Jakarta, and back to Ningbo via Shekou, a port in south China.
The opening of the new line will help increase the company's share of the Southeast Asian shipping market as the Southeast Asian economy is recovering, according to Zhang Wenqin, general manager of the company's planning department.
