China Bans Import of Cloven-Hoofed Animals, Products from Holland, Ireland

China has banned the import of cloven-hoofed animals and their products from Holland and Ireland as a precaution against foot-and-mouth disease, found in the two countries last week.

The ban imposed by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and the State Administration for Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine takes immediate effect.

According to a bulletin issued by the two authorities, all the cloven-hoofed animals and their products from Holland and Ireland that are already in Chinese ports shall be returned or destroyed.

The bulletin also bans the entrance of any mail parcels containing the said products and prohibits international passengers from bringing them into China.
