Guizhou Sets Up Lithium-Ion Battery Production Line
An alithium-ion battery production line was put into operation in Zunyi City in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Sunday.
With a designed annual output of 6.5 million alithium-ion batteries, the first-phase project of the production line received a total investment of 50 million yuan (about 6 million U.S. dollars). The new product will be only half the price of the imported variety.
Jointly funded by two large state-owned enterprises and one investment company, the project is the first of its kind in the western part of China, said Hu Dianjun, deputy general manager of the new company.
Lithium-ion batteries are widely used in mobile phones, laptop computers and video cameras. The annual demand for such batteries in China for mobile phones alone is more than 100 million.
