Guizhou Has New Governor
Shi Xiushi was elected governor of southwest China's
Guizhou
Province Wednesday.
Shi was elected at the fourth plenary session of the Ninth Provincial People's Congress.
Shi, born in July 1942, is a native of Shangqiu City in central China's
Henan
Province. He is a graduate of the
Beijing
Civil Engineering Institute.
Shi served in the Heavy Industry Bureau under the State Economic and Trade Commission and the General Office of the State Council before coming to Guizhou.
Shi assumed a member, standing committee member and deputy secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China since December 2000 and took up the post of deputy governor and then acting governor of Guizhou early this year.
