Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), was back in Beijing by special plane Wednesday evening, after concluding an official goodwill visit to India.
Among those greeting Li and his entourage at the Great Hall of the People were Vice-Chairman Tian Jiyun of the NPC Standing Committee, State Councilor Luo Gan, and other senior officials as well as Indian ambassador to China Shivshankar Menon.
Those who arrived in Beijing aboard the same plane included Li Peng's wife Zhu Lin; Vice-Chairman Buhe of the NPC Standing Committee; Wang Chaowen, a member of the NPC Standing Committee and chairman of the NPC Ethnic Affairs Committee; Chen Huanyou, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress; Xu Huizi, a member of the NPC Standing Committee and deputy chairman of the NPC Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee; Raidi, chairman of the Standing Committee of Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress; Gu Shanqing, a member of the NPC Standing Committee and a member of the NPC Financial and Economic Committee; Deputy Secretary-General Lu Congmin of the NPC Standing Committee; Director Wu Wenchang of the NPC Standing Committee Chairman's Office; and Assistant Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
