Tung Chee Hwa Meets CSRC Chairman

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Tung Chee Hwa met with Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) Zhou Xiaochuan at his office Monday in Hong Kong.

They shared the view that there was room to further strengthen the cooperation between the authorities concerned in the development of the securities markets of Hong Kong and the mainland.

The chief executive congratulated Zhou on his dynamic reform efforts, noting that under his leadership at the CSRC, the mainland securities market was fast becoming more open, better regulated and moving towards international standards.

"These major reforms could also have profound impact on the development of the Hong Kong markets in encouraging more future participation of Hong Kong enterprises as well as industry professionals in the mainland markets," Tung said.

Tung said the SAR government fully supported the Hong Kong Security and Futures Commission's (SFC) working with CSRC and the mainland to develop mainland markets.
