4th National Farmers Sports Meet Closed

The 4th National Farmer Sports Meet closed in Mianyang, Sichuan Province on November 4. The 4th Sports Meet was a grand gathering that had been launched on a scale of the largest and of the most influential. Over 3,300 farmer athletes from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions throughout China, including those from Taiwan, had taken part in competing for 410 golds of 131 events, 13 categories, including track and field, swimming, kite flying and dragon boat racing.

Seven days' heated competition showed that host Sichuan team swept most golds, to be followed by Beijing, Guangdong, Gujian, Tianjin, Chongqing, Hebei, Shanghai, Hubei and Inner Mongolia.

The 5th National Farmers Sports Meet, as is reported, will be held in Yichun, Jiangxi Province by 2004.
