East China to Build Hi-tech Zone Along Coast

East China's Fujian province is planning to develop a hi-tech industrial strip by linking the existing five provincial hi-tech zones in the coastal areas.

According to sources from the on-going fourth China investment and trade fair in Xiamen city in Fujian province, a brand-new industrial belt of hi-tech companies will emerge along the southeastern coast of the province in the next 5-10 years.

As part of the plan, during the fair the Siming Software Industrial Park in Xiamen, one of the three national software development bases set up by the Ministry of Science and Technology, has attracted five foreign-funded projects to the park, including the establishment of a technological center of IBMT of France.
