Capital International Airport in Beijing Busiest One in China

The Capital International Airport of Beijing saw the largest number of airplanes landing and taking off there in August, setting a daily record in the country.

Airport records show 611 airplanes landed on and took off from the airport on August 13, the highest number among all the airports in the country. The predicted number was around 580.

Operators said the airport has been in good order in spite of many landings and take-offs thanks to the new airport building, which was put into use last September.

The 330,000-square-meter waiting hall is large enough for domestic and overseas tourists. The 36 boarding channels, with 17 for international airlines, are only in use for five hours. And the runways at the east and west are able to handle a lot of air traffic.

There has been a steady increase since May in landings and take-offs at the airport, and more airlines and airplanes are expected to do the same in the future, added the operators.
