Zhejiang Daily Group Hangs out Shingle
Zhejiang Daily Group formally hung out the shingle for operation on June 25 and became the ninth newspaper group with formal authorization.
Shao Huaze, president of People's Daily and chairman of China Journalists' Association, attended the meeting to express heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the People's Daily and China Journalists' Association. Shao said that to set up the newspaper group will help strengthen the Communist Party leadership and the government management over the press work. It will be helpful to enlarge the influence of Communist Party newspapers, consolidate and develop the news publicity position, so as to guarantee the leading position of Communist Party newspapers in publicity. It will also promote the operation and development of newspapers and enhance the economic strength of Party newspapers, so that our journalist work can better serve the people, socialism and the overall situation regarding the work of the whole Party and the entire country. The establishment of Zhejiang Daily Newspaper Group is a milestone in Zhejiang newspaper's history as well as an auspicious event for people in the same journalist circle..
The "Zhejiang Daily" started publication on May 9, 1949. Up to date, it owns six newspapers, two magazines and one website.
