Construction of Expressways Going Smoothly

A key 2,272-meter tunnel of the Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou expressway in east China's Zhejiang province has been completed, with a total investment of 50 million yuan.

The first expressway going across the north of Guangdong province, also part of the national-level Beijing-Zhuhai expressway has almost been completed.

Meanwhile, the construction of Xuchang-Pingdingshan-Nanyang expressway in central China's Henan province has also started. The four-lane 163.5-km way, with a total investment of 3.5 billion yuan, is expected to be finished in three years.

Statistics show that China's expressway had exceeded 10,000 kilometers by the end of 1999.
