Laos, China Hoping for Closer Ties

Laos hopes to expand cooperation with China, to which it has ever attached great importance, said the Lao President Khamtay Siphandone, who is also chairman of the ruling Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

He the remarks during a meeting on Friday morning at his party's headquarters with Huang Ju, a politburo member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), who is leading a CPC delegation on a goodwill visit here at the invitation of the ruling party of Laos.

Huang hoped that the two countries and the two ruling parties would broaden their exchange of views on such issues as party affairs, government management and socio-economic development, through which they could learn from each other.

Huang, who is also Shanghai's Communist Party chief, arrived in Laos on Thursday.
