NPT Review Conference Success in General: FM Spokeswoman
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Tuesday at a press conference that China regards the recently-concluded Review Conference of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) as a success in general.
"The conference on the whole is a successful one which ended in passing the final document by discussion and consensus, and making arrangements for nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament efforts in the next five years, which will exert positive impacts on further reviewing and implementing the NPT, as well as on promoting the non-proliferation and disarmament process," she said.
China welcomes the final document passed by the conference, although the document failed to comprehensively reflect the reality of the current world situation and to make positive efforts in urging the solution of some fundamental problems undermining international strategic balance and stability and obstructing the process of nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament, she pointed out.
She made the pledge that China will continue to honor its commitments and obligations according to the Treaty, and to make efforts in promoting nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear disarmament, as well as the peacefully utilization of nuclear power.
