Education Ministry to Reinforce Education for West China
China's Ministry of Education is earmarking 70 million yuan this year to improve the distance-learning system in the western territory.
The ministry says it will expand the national education and research network, known as CERNET, to cover all higher education institutions, major vocational schools, middle and primary schools and schools in ethnic areas in the west.
The ministry will also complete the building, development and upgrading of a university campus network in the west within the next three years, as well as helping middle and primary schools to improve the quality of their distance-learning education programs.
