China China Sets About Opening up Its Western Region

Li Rongrong, vice chairman of State Economic and Trade Commission, said in a recent interview with newsmen that to open up its western region China will through a policy readjustment enforce a restructuring of productive forces and a change of enterprises' debts into stockholding according to market demands. This is to say there will be no room left on markets for those backward or obsolete but those of new and advanced producers with a high productivity and a rising competitive force in the western region of China.

Li said that China will start first with a restructuring of production of enterprises involved and will finally by this work for a final eradication of all irrational structures and obsolete enterprises from markets of the country's western region.
