A farmer from central China's Hubei Province was killed when he set off explosives at about 4:00this afternoon on the eastern side of Tian'anmen Square, located at the heart of the Chinese capital, according to local police.

The farmer died at the spot and a tourist from the Republic of Korea suffered slight injuries, the police reported.
