Malaysian communities keenly look forward to the visit of President Xi

President Xi Jinping will begin his state visit to Malaysia on October 3rd. Malaysia is keenly looking forward to the occasion, according to officials, academics, local Chinese enterprises, and oversea Chinese interviewed by this reporter, amidst hopes that this visit may further strengthen strategic cooperation between China and Malaysia and work to the greater benefit of both countries in various fields.

Cherish a precious friendship to consolidate crucial foundations

According to Mohd Ridzal Sheriff, Deputy Secretary General(Trade) of Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry, President Xi’s visit is a great honor for Malaysia. China is now the second largest economy in the world, and Malaysia and China have maintained a friendly relationship for a very long period. The visit of President Xi is a sign of the high-level friendship between Malaysia and China, and will emphasize the close economic ties between Malaysia and China. “China has huge growth potential. Malaysia hopes that the friendly relationship between the two countries can be further strengthened. We are very confident about the development of relationships between the two countries.”

According to Nazery Khalid, Research Fellow of Maritime Institute of Malaysia, next year will see the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China. The visit of President Xi to Malaysia shows clearly that China cherishes the close relationships with and friendship between China and Malaysia, and will consolidate the existing foundations and enhance the development of the relationship between Malaysia and China.

According to Professor Dr. Rajah Rasiah D. Phil, Acting Dean of Faculty of Economics & Administration, University of Malaya, the visit of President Xi will further consolidate the close mutual relationship between Malaysia and China. After the formal establishment of AEC at the end of 2015, trade and investment between China and ASEAN will continue to expand.

According to Tian Fenglin, Chief Executive Officer of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Malaysia)Berhad, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has made the development of the Malaysia-China relationship a keystone of his foreign policy, and the relationship between China and Malaysia is steadily maturing, with strengthened mutual trust. The visit of President Xi to Malaysia shows the great importance attached by China to the healthy development of the relationship between the two countries. China and Malaysia are each important trade partners for the other. The constant and healthy development of the economic and trade relationships between the two countries is crucial to their common prosperity, and to the highest ambitions of both countries.
