Promote collaboration projects to deepen bilateral relationships
According to Rajah Rasiah, Malaysia and China are in the process of establishing close cooperation in the field of education. Many Chinese students are now studying in Malaysia, and the University of Malaya and Tsinghua University have signed an MOU. In the future, as this cooperation increases, investment and bilateral trade between the two countries will follow and the Malaysia-China cooperation relationship will be further strengthened.
In the words of Dato'Yu Chok Tow, Wanita MCA National Chairman, Malaysian Chinese Association, "We hope the visit of President Xi will lead to additional nongovernmental communication and academic cooperation to reinforce the mutual trust between the two countries, and encourage further developments in the current friendly relationship."
Tian Fenglin said that he hoped that the visit of President Xi would strengthen economic cooperation between China and Malaysia and bring new investment opportunities in both countries, so that enterprises in both countries would be encouraged to invest more in the other country, establishing a solid foundation for the rapid development of China-Malaysia economic and trade relationships.
According to Kerk Loong Sing, Vice President of Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce, Malaysia was the first ASEAN country to establish diplomatic relations with China. In more recent times, respective visits by the leaders of both countries have been frequent. This visit by President Xi will help to promote and enhance political and economic relations between Malaysia and China.
Tan Khai Hee, Group Managing Director, HAI-O Enterprise Berhad, said: “Malaysia and China have already established a sound base of trust; they complement and coordinate with each other on many international projects to realize win-win cooperation.”
According to Dr.Yeah Kim Leng,Group Chief Economist, RAM Holdings Berhad, Malaysia, Malaysia hopes that its relationships with China will develop steadily in the fields of politics, economy and diplomacy. “The rehabilitation of Malaysia following the international financial crisis depends largely on its strong exports to China and on a greater degree of trade integration by both countries.”
