BUENOS AIRES, May 9 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to advance mutually beneficial cooperation with Argentina in a bid to benefit the two peoples, visiting Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao said here on Thursday.
China and Argentina have maintained frequent high-level exchanges, deepened political mutual trust and reaped a bumper harvest in cooperation in areas such as economy and trade and culture since the establishment of diplomatic ties 41 years ago and, in particular, since the estalishment of relations of strategic partnership in 2004, said Li in a written statement issued upon arrival at Buenos Aires airport.
The new Chinese leadership will continue to perceive and develop bilateral relations from a long-term strategic perspective, said the Chinese vice president.
China stands ready to work with Argentina to further promote mutually beneficial cooperation so as to bring benefits to both peoples, he said.
"I am looking forward to exchanging views with Argentine leaders on bilateral relations and issues of common concern," Li said.
He also voiced confidence that, with concerted efforts, his visit would achieve the goal of deepening friendship, advancing mutual trust, expanding cooperation and promoting development.
The Chinese vice president is on a four-day visit to Argentina at the invitation of Amado Boudou, his Argentine counterpart and president of the Senate.
