BEIJING, May 8, (ChinaMil) -- A light mechanized infantry division of the 38th Combined Corps under the Beijing Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) staged the first long-range maneuver drill in the hinterland of the Taihang Mountains in north China on May 7, 2013.
All the vehicle radio stations suddenly failed to work because of "enemy's" electromagnetic interference at 09:30 when the vehicles had hardly entered an area of the Taihang Mountains.
On the way to the designated drilling area, the troops of the division encountered various difficult situations such as electromagnetic interference, the "enemy's air raid", damaged roads and so on.
It is learnt that after arriving at its destination, the division will conduct drillings of such subjects as individual vehicle shooting in the combat, live-ammunition tactical drill by armored infantry (tank) companies and tactical confrontation drill by armored (tank) companies. The long-range maneuver drill will conclude with an actual-troop confrontation exercise mainly containing encounter actions, front containing and surmounting attacks.
