VIENNA, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- China's ambassador to the United Nations in Vienna said on Thursday that progress has been made in implementation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Nuclear Action Plan on Nuclear Safety.
Cheng Jingye told a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors that progress has been made since the IAEA General Conference unanimously endorsed the Action Plan on Nuclear Safety in September 2011.
Cheng stressed that IAEA is playing a central role in promoting international nuclear safety, and that Chinese government will effectively fulfill its obligations and continue supporting IAEA Action Plan on Nuclear Safety.
He also noted that the Chinese government attaches great importance to nuclear safety, and regards the nuclear safety as the first agenda in all nuclear related programs.
The meeting will talk about nuclear safety and security and nuclear verification, including Iranian nuclear issue.
