NANNING, July 4 (Xinhua) -- At least one child drowned in a pond on Thursday afternoon in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said rescuers.
At 3:45 p.m. Thursday, local residents reported that about eight or nine children around the ages of 9 or 10 were drowning in a pond in Nanning's Zining District, said rescuers.
Of the three children who have been rescued, one was confirmed dead at the scene and another is in a coma.
Rescue work is under way.
