BEIJING, July 2 (ChinaMil) -- The Chinese and Russian navies will hold a maritime joint exercise codenamed "Maritime Joint Exercise 2013" from July 5 to 12, 2013 in the sea and air areas near the Peter the Great Gulf of the Sea of Japan after their successful joint military exercise in the waters of the Yellow Sea off China's east coast last year.
When talking about the highlights of the forthcoming joint exercise, Senior Captain Zhang Junshe, a researcher with the Military Academic Research Institute of the Navy of the People's Liberation Army (PLAN), expressed that the subjects in the exercise remain almost unchanged, but it is noteworthy that the warships of the two navies will turn on their radars, including fire control radar, illuminating radar and missile guidance radar, and also use sonar, photoelectric communication and electronic equipment in the anti-submarine and air-defense drills.
The highlights mean that the two sides will display the tactical and technical characteristics of their equipment to each other. Only when two militaries have great strategic mutual trust in each other can they hold the exercise on those tactical subjects, showing the high-level strategic mutual trust between China and Russia and their militaries.
