Ukraine will hold a joint military exercise with NATO later this month, the country's defense ministry said Wednesday.

Dubbed "Sea Breeze-2010," the drill is scheduled to take place on July 12-23 in Ukraine's Black Sea region, involving Ukrainian forces and about 3,000 troops from Azerbaijan, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Georgia, Denmark, Moldova, Poland, Turkey and Sweden.

"The exercise will practice the interoperability of the military and law enforcement bodies of different countries in the fight against terrorism, sea piracy, sea rescue and naval shipping control," the ministry said in a statement.

"Sea Breeze" exercises have been conducted annually in Ukraine since 1997 until 2009, when the Ukrainian parliament defied then-President Viktor Yushchenko and refused to approve the maneuvers.

Earlier this year, Ukrainian lawmakers voted to give the green light to the drill as well as several other multinational military and peacekeeping exercises.
