More than 200 major cases have been filed, and three ministerial-level officials prosecuted, by Beijing People's Procuratorate since 2010, Beijing Youth Daily reported.

Prosecutors in Beijing have investigated 1,214 cases of alleged abuses of power since 2010, including embezzlement, Li Xinsheng, deputy chief prosecutor of the procuratorate said on Monday.

More than 1,460 officials were investigated during the time, he said. That includes at least three ministerial-level officials - Song Yong, former deputy director of the Liaoning People's Congress Standing Committee, Liu Zhuozhi, former deputy chairman of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Tian Xueren, former deputy governor of Jilin province.

Li said the procuratorate will focus on investigating major cases that could harm the public interest.

The office also encourages the general public to provide information under their own names, as this helps investigators more than anonymous tip-offs.

"Public tip-offs have been proven to be more reliable," Li said.

People who give information under their real name can inquire about the progress of the case at any prosecutor's sub-office in Beijing, and their personal information will be strictly protected.
