China continues patrols in waters surrounding Diaoyu Islands

BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- A fleet of Chinese marine surveillance ships conducted regular patrols in territorial waters surrounding the Diaoyu Islands on Friday, said the State Oceanic Administration (SOA).

The fleet composed of three marine surveillance ships monitored Japanese ships in the area to collect evidence and urged them to leave the waters, according to a statement posted on the SOA's website.
