Landslide kills two in Xinjiang

URUMQI, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and another was critically injured in a landslide on Monday in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local authorities said on Tuesday.

The landslide occurred at around 7 p.m. in Manas County in the autonomous region, burying three people who were working at a nearby construction site.

Two died in hospital and the other is critically injured and being treated.

An initial investigation found that heavy rain was the cause of the landslide.
