The All-China Journalists Association on Monday launched a program to provide aid to media workers who are killed or injured while doing their duty or act bravely to support justice, said Zhai Huisheng, Party chief of the association.
The non-profit program covers Chinese journalists, said Zhai, adding that the applicants, once approved, will be given financial, medical or legal assistance. The first batch of aid will go to journalists who might qualify after reporting on the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that jolted the city of Ya'an in Sichuan Province on Saturday.
