Intruding workers force suspension of city subway

09:41, January 23, 2013

HANGZHOU, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The subway in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, was suspended for 35 minutes on Tuesday after two workers jumped onto the tracks, local police said.

The two migrant workers jumped onto the tracks at Qiaosi Station along Hangzhou's Line 1 subway at around 11:50 a.m., police said.

The two workers, employed by a company responsible for a decoration project at the station, jumped onto the tracks because they were involved in a wage dispute with their employers, the police said.

One of the workers was injured after he climbed and fell off the noise barrier. He was sent to a local hospital, according to police. The other worker, who had lain down on the track, was taken away by police and subway security guards.

Traffic on the subway line was suspended at 12:03 and did not resume until 12:38.

Police have launched a further investigation into the incident.
