BEIJING, December 3 (ChinaMil) -- Chang Wanquan, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC), state councilor and minister of national defense of the People's Republic of China (PRC), held talks with Hassan Darar Houffaneh, the visiting minister of defense of Djibouti, on the afternoon of December 2, 2013 in Beijing.
Chang Wanquan said that during President Xi Jinping's visit to three African countries in March this year, he expounded China's policy toward Africa in the new era with four Chinese characters, namely, "sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith".
China-Djibouti relations have been developed smoothly since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as evidenced by increasingly expanded cooperation in various fields and mutual support and cooperation in international and regional affairs, Chang Wanquan continued.
The relations between the Chinese and Djibouti militaries have achieved satisfactory development in recent years, as evidenced by constantly expanded areas of cooperation. The Chinese side cherishes the friendship between the two militaries, and is willing to further expand cooperation areas, deepen cooperation connotations and improve cooperation quality, so as to promote all-around development of the military-to-military relations, Chang Wanquan added.
Hassan said that the Djibouti side is grateful to the Chinese side for its valuable support and assistance in various fields since it gained independence from France in 1977, and is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese military to constantly deepen the friendly relations between the two militaries.
Before the talks, Chang Wanquan held a welcome ceremony for Hassan and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the three services of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
